Externship Experience An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique prospect to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. New Glasgow Veterinary Clinic is a beautiful clinic located in a small town in Nova Scotia. We are a fast‑paced clinic with a great culture.
Responsibilities Gather patient histories
Perform physical exams
Create treatment plans and diagnostics
Provide dentistry services
Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures




Engage in medical management of patients
Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Eligibility Veterinary students in 3rd or 4th year, who are in the clinical portion of their education, are encouraged to apply.
Externship Duration Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
Travel and Living Expense Stipend Students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
