We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Assistant (casual) to join our team in providing engaging activities and social opportunities for residents in our assisted living and memory care community. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities through meaningful recreation and companionship. Responsibilities
Organize, and facilitate recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities; including games, arts and crafts, music, and outings
Assist residents with participation in activities, ensuring safety and engagement
Support residents during social events, encouraging socialization and interaction
Monitor residents’ responses to activities and provide feedback to the care team
Maintain a clean and organized activity space
Document participation and resident preferences as required
Collaborate with staff to develop activity schedules that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being
Requirements
Prior experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities is preferred; assisted living or memory care experience is a plus
Knowledge of dementia care and care-giving techniques is advantageous
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
Compassionate attitude with patience and understanding
Able to be flexible and work in a casual capacity
Experience in organizing or leading recreational activities is beneficial
