Shikuwasa is a recent Japanese fusion restaurant bringing together Japanese techniques, bold flavours, and creative influences in a modern, approachable menu. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Chef to join our opening kitchen team.

Responsibilities
Prepare and execute dishes consistently according to restaurant recipes and standards
Work with Japanese ingredients, flavours, and cooking techniques
Handle mise en place, prep, cooking, plating, and service
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and food safety
Manage ingredients efficiently and minimize food waste
Assist with menu development, testing, and seasonal specials
Maintain an organized and efficient workstation during service
Collaborate closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams
Help establish kitchen procedures and standards as part of a recent restaurant opening





What We’re Looking For
Professional kitchen experience in a restaurant environment
Experience with Japanese cuisine or Japanese cooking techniques strongly preferred
Strong knife skills and understanding of food preparation and kitchen organization
Ability to execute consistently in a fast-paced service environment
Attention to detail and pride in presentation
Reliable, organized, and comfortable working as part of a small team
Interest in creative fusion cuisine and experimenting with flavours and techniques
Culinary training is an asset but not required with equivalent professional experience

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
