Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Applying flouride treatment and pit and fissure sealants
Review and updating patient's medical and dental history
Providing individualized oral hygiene instruction and home care recommendations
Completing periodontal (gum) assessments and charting
Assessing oral health and identifying signs of disease
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring patient safety and comfort
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventative care, and treatment options
Assist in developing personalized treatment plans alongside the dental team
Maintain accurate patient records using dental practice management software
Support the dental team with chairside assistance during procedures when needed
Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to maintain a safe environment for all patients
Requirements
Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Ontario
Knowledge of general dentistry procedures
Maintain professional liability insurance
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically
Prior experience in a dental office setting, including dental assisting or hygiene roles
Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dentistry and oral health
