Salary
The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42‑$59.52 per hour.

Detailed Overview
In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and Fraser Health's mission and values, and working collaboratively within an interprofessional care team in the provision of person‑centered care, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients.

The purpose of this position is to provide qualified registered nurses the opportunity to consolidate their skills by rotating through a specialty nursing unit(s)



prior to and/or during the undertaking of postgraduate course work applicable to the relevant specialty nursing unit(s). Successful applicants will be expected to participate in and successfully complete the applicable postgraduate specialty nursing courses/program within the agreed‑to time frames.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and collect information using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment; make nursing diagnoses; plan, perform, and evaluate nursing interventions and care.

Collaborate with patients and their families/care givers in developing the care plan and encourage family participation; establish a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect.

Participate in care and discharge planning; ensure care plans are established, implemented, and evaluated effectively; update care plans timely; intervene appropriately; collaborate with the interprofessional care team; communicate with the Patient Care Coordinator.

Coordinate nursing care; set priorities, assign and delegate tasks to support staff, and make referrals to the interprofessional care team according to established protocols and practice standards.

Collaborate with other interprofessional team members (physicians, LPNs, Patient Care Coordinator, clinical nurse educators) in the identification and resolution of issues, adjustments to care plans, and changes in patient condition.

Teach patients and families/care givers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to help patients accomplish their health care goals; assess learning needs and provide information and demonstration of care activities.

Plan and discuss referral information with patients and families/care givers; initiate referrals to appropriate health care and community agencies.

Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes,



and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.

Participate in nursing committees, care conferences, and councils as assigned or agreed with the manager.

Participate in research and quality improvement activities by identifying patient care issues, collecting data, and recommending corrective actions and practice changes.

Participate in and attend in‑services and other educational programs; identify learning goals and maintain current clinical competence and knowledge within the area of practice.

Provide feedback to the manager regarding the effectiveness of patient care programs, policy/clinical decision support tools, and equipment.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Completion of the applicable postgraduate specialty nursing course/program and/or willingness to complete the applicable postgraduate specialty nursing courses/program.

Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).

Skills and Abilities

Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate interventions.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff, and interprofessional team members using verbal, written, and electronic means.

Ability to use factual information, previous learning, and basic principles to support nursing decisions with research‑based evidence.

Ability to operate related equipment and relevant computer applications.
