About the job In this role, you will:
provide engineering expertise to safeguard the well-being of vehicular transportation corridors
plan, manage and deliver bridge and infrastructure projects
carry out structure rehabilitation design, inspections, hydrology studies and construction liaison
lead and provide technical supervision to internal teams of professional engineers and technicians in structural design
acquire external consultants, overseeing their work and evaluating performance
generate and pursue innovative solutions to ensure wise investment of tax dollars.
What you bring to the team Mandatory:
You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with the Association of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
You possess a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver's License.
Technical knowledge:
proven knowledge and experience in structural engineering and design practices pertaining to bridges, culverts and other transportation structures (design, analysis, evaluation, rehabilitation)
knowledge of hydrology studies, road design, soils, foundations, and construction practices
proficiency working with related structural computer programs
demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC)
working knowledge of structural maintenance, inspections and operations, foundation rehabilitation and hydrology designs, and structural planning
Project management and technical administration skills the ability to manage consultant assignments, identify and resolve technical and administrative issues
demonstrated abilities in contract preparation and delivery processes
proven competency in project management and technical administration of structural projects
proven abilities in contract preparation and delivery processes




effective organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent projects
This position requires the completion of in-house design work and providing your engineering seal to assume professional responsibility for your documents and drawings.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills the ability to identify problems, gather necessary information, investigate, interpret, analyze risks and resolve issues
effective decision-making skills and the ability to prepare contingency plans and actions
the ability to display qualified, effective judgement
