Job Description
Project: Canadian Royalties Inc.

Location: Northern Quebec (100 km south of Deception Bay, 1,800 km north of Montreal, Canada)

Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off

Shift work: 12 hours

Travel: Flights to and from Val d'Or, Montreal, Quebec City, Nunavik and La Grande Rivière.

Accommodation: Remote site - camp

Requirements: FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or equivalent (Ontario Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core), valid driver's license, general explosives permit, drug screening, medical exam.

Job Summary
The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment hoists, compressors, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature.

Responsibilities

Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage

Provide skilled mechanical work in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems

To accurately fill out any preventative maintenance check sheet related to his work

Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his/her duties in a safe and productive manner

Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve the problem utilizing the schematics in the OEM manuals and or programs.

The use of a mechanical work order system to track repairs on individual pieces of equipment.

Familiar with underground Mobile equipment Braking regulations//testing and adjusting such components.

Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.





Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.

Comply with all Redpath and Owners safety regulations and procedures.

Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings - high level of alertness required

Train and mentor new employees and/or apprentices.

Health And Safety

Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working workplace

Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions

Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.

Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.

Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

Qualifications
Education:

Journeyman level qualification (trade school or college diploma) – (preferred)

High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Basic literacy (read, write, basic math and read blue print) required

Ontario Hard Rock Underground Service Type Common Core (or other provincial equivalent) (required)

Work Experience:

Minimum of 3 years underground mechanical experience

Maintenance experience on: maclean bolter, Cat scooptram and haulage truck, Sandvik Split Feed Jumbo’s, and miscellaneous project supporting equipment





Solid Organizational skills

Welding experience would be an asset

Knowledge Required:

Texa & Cat ET Diagnostic software

Sandvik Toolman, Cat SIS 2.0 & Maclean Eng. Documoto digital manuals.

Redpoint & Oracle Fusion

Ability to understand work from ladder flowcharts, schematics, sketches and wiring diagrams.

Ability to utilize and create excel spreadsheets, word documents and adobe reader

Government Regulations and interval testing for; Fire Suppression, 5 gas analysis, NDT, pressure vessels, tire & rim, crane etc…
