What's the challenge?
As our Lead Hand, you’ll play an important role in helping the Service Supervisor with day-to-day planning, organization, and workflow. You’ll take on major Crane diagnostics and repairs, and be hands‑on with daily shop repairs. You’ll fit right in with

“Service First”. It’s our company slogan and you are driven to support external and internal customers with exceptional solutions. You’ll recognize that our customers’ livelihoods depend on the service they receive from our team.

Safety Minded. First and foremost – you work safely, and insist your team follows all safety programs and procedures – every time. We have adopted best practices when developing our systems and procedures and you’ll become a champion for consistently staying in the lines.

Certification.

You have done the hard work and training required to earn certification as a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician and you’re ready to apply all that you have learned to make Great West Equipment your customers’ first choice.

Experience. You are accomplished with diagnostic and repair experience on a wide variety of heavy equipment (Crane) from various manufacturers. You love to share your knowledge with apprentices and young techs and you are able to communicate your information in a timely and understandable manner.

Leadership. You easily develop a rapport of trust with your team and your fair, level‑headed leadership style makes it easy for techs to approach you with issues and ideas.

Keeping Your Cool. You may need to work under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on communication and quality service. You will have an abundance of patience. This can be a physical job with heavy lifting and carrying. The pace can be fast, the hours can be long during busy cycles, and you may also need to work overtime. You will also realize that you need to recharge regularly – we insist that you take your vacation time!

Mentorship. Listen actively and perform competence analysis of apprentice technicians. Identify areas for them to improve and provide on‑job training to assist in their development.

Organization. This is a detail‑oriented position and you have already developed personal systems for organizing your work and organizing the techs on your team.
