Are you an experienced software developer with a passion for finding creative solutions to real‑world problems? Then Jobber might be the place for you! We’re looking for Senior Software Engineers to be part of our Product Software Engineering team.
At Jobber, we don’t just build a product – we work on real problems that help people in small businesses become successful. We live our company values of humility, support and a willingness to go the extra mile. Our teams work with autonomy, release early and often, and focus on both innovation and addressing technical debt. We value instant customer feedback and use it to make their lives easier.
We support employee growth through onboarding resources, tutorials, hackathons, and mentorship. Leaders foster empathy, work‑life harmony, and a culture where employees can innovate.
You could join one of the following teams:
Subscription Infrastructure: This team manages and improves the billing experience for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring customers can easily subscribe to our products. Beyond core billing systems and workflows, we enable teams to drive monetization and expansion through features like promotions and in‑product marketing.
Sign Up & Trial: Dedicated to helping small home‑service businesses understand how Jobber can solve their problems. The focus is on creating “AHA!” moments that convert trial users to subscriptions.
Harbour Foundations: Building the internal foundation for an AI‑powered customer journey, providing scalable, intelligent systems for our GTM teams.
Expansion: Empowering users to make informed decisions for business success by enhancing upgrade/downgrade journeys and enabling product‑led discovery.
The role:
Reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering, the Senior Software Engineer will collaborate with other Software Development members on a Scrum team to build an industry‑leading product that helps our customers and their small businesses succeed. You will solve large‑scale problems, influence product and team direction, and develop your own craft while mentoring others.
You will champion best practices for well‑tested, scalable,
and organized code; customize and extend tools and processes; and coach teammates.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
Be involved in the full life‑cycle of a feature, from ideation to delivery and adoption
Participate in code review and testing, driving engineering solutions that maintain consistency and reusability
Facilitate group discussions with team members and stakeholders to determine the best solution to customer problems
Research, communicate, and advocate for best practices within your domain
Mentor and coach junior teammates, helping them elevate their skills and careers
Understand how and why our customers work, to develop and improve features in Jobber’s online and mobile apps
Utilize AI tools to enhance development practice, complementing human skills and augmenting productivity
To be successful, you should have:
Demonstrated senior software engineering experience on a full‑stack team
Strong quality code written in multiple languages; experience with JavaScript/TypeScript is required (we use Ruby on Rails, React & React Native with TypeScript)
Experience with the full software development lifecycle in an Agile/Scrum framework
Strong systems focus, building foundational software for large, at‑scale applications
Ability to move quickly between features and projects with a passion for experimentation
Structured understanding of full‑stack frameworks, architectures, technologies, and patterns
An inquisitive mindset; ability to ask questions, seek new information, and remain open to recent ideas
Self‑serve initiative and resourcefulness
Enthusiasm for delivering value early and often to customers
Experience providing technical mentorship and sharing industry best practices
Experience using developer AI tools like Copilot or Cursor
It would be really great (but not a deal‑breaker) if you had:
Exposure or experience in a tech leadership role
Kafka knowledge and basic AWS experience (e.g., Lambda, ECS, EC2)
Experience using Ruby on Rails, React, and GraphQL in production
Hiring Process:
Interview with a Talent team member (45 min)
Hiring Manager Interview (60 min)
Take‑home challenge and follow‑up Functional Interview (90 min)
Senior Leadership Interview (30 min)
Where you can expect to work:
You may work from our Edmonton or Toronto offices or remotely anywhere within Canada. We ensure a great experience for all Jobberinos.
Compensation:
The role offers a minimum annual salary of $125,800, a midpoint of $147,900, and a maximum of $170,100. Total compensation includes equity rewards, health and wellness stipends, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums. Additional growth opportunities include a dedicated talent development program with coaching, learning, and leadership initiatives.
What you can expect from Jobber:
Full compensation package with extended health benefits, RRSP/TFSA/FHSA matching, and stock options
Dedicated Talent Development team and coaching, learning, and leadership programs
Opportunity to impact a $400‑billion industry with no dominant player yet
Collaborative culture of humility, support, and a genuine focus on customers
