St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre, part of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, invites applications for occasional culinary teachers to cover various culinary courses and certificate programs. All qualified applicants are welcome and encouraged to apply. Program Overview
All culinary credit courses follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The teacher will report to the Principal and provide coverage during the regular teacher’s absence.
Duties
Maintain a secure, inclusive, and productive learning environment during the teacher’s absence.
Deliver prepared lesson plans and supervise students in both classroom and skilled kitchen settings.
Provide a daily summary report to the teacher.
Maintain all health and safety protocols, including food safety.
Provide instructional support to students to ensure academic progress.
Develop lesson plans and assist with ongoing assessment of student work, providing feedback during multi‑day assignments.
Oversee practical kitchen labs, ensuring proper equipment use and sanitation.
Minimum Requirements
A current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification. (If no OCT candidates apply, other candidates will be considered).
Eligible to work in Canada.
Available for in‑person teaching.
Desirable Assets
Senior teaching qualifications in Hospitality and Tourism.
Industry expertise: a Red Seal Certificate or equivalent skilled culinary experience.
Previous experience teaching in a secondary school or adult education.
Location & Schedule
St. Louis Main Campus, 80 Young St., Kitchener
Hours: as needed. Program hours are 8:45–11:45 AM and 12:30–3:30 PM, 5 terms (37 days per term). Teaching format is a compressed schedule (each class is 3 hours per day). Term assignments may be offered each term based on qualifications and seniority.
