Electrical Field Specialist (Industrial Systems)
We are currently seeking an Electrical Field Specialist to join Spartan Controls’ Reliability team. This role can be based out of Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, or Grande Prairie, with the flexibility to work remotely while frequently supporting customers on‑site.

In this position, you will play a key role in delivering commissioning, startup, and reliability solutions across a variety of industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution

Lead MCC and VFD commissioning and startup activities, including:

Verification of motor control systems

VFD programming and configuration

Setup of intelligent devices such as soft starters (RVSS), overloads, meters, and breakers

Conduct pre‑shipment testing, onsite commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems

Interpret electrical drawings and specifications, applying robust knowledge of:

Three‑phase power systems

Transformers and control circuits

CSA‑compliant installations

Utilize diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, meggers, ductors, TTRs) to identify and resolve issues efficiently

Reliability & Safety

Support and enhance electrical safety practices, including LOTO, PPE, grounding, and arc flash procedures

Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, CSA guidelines)

Develop and execute condition monitoring and predictive maintenance programs, including:

Motor circuit analysis (MCSA)

Vibration analysis

Infrared thermography





Power quality testing

Team & Knowledge Sharing

Collaborate with internal teams to support lifecycle services, including startup and commissioning

Provide technical guidance and deliver training to both internal teams and customers

Customer Engagement

Partner with customers, sales, and service teams to deliver high‑quality on‑site support

Prepare clear and timely technical reports and documentation

Maintain strong communication with stakeholders while ensuring alignment with safety standards

Travel as needed to support project execution and client requirements

Qualifications & Skills

Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology, or equivalent experience

Trade certification (e.g., Journeyman Electrician) is considered an asset

Strong background in industrial electrical systems and troubleshooting

Hands‑on experience with electrical schematics and control systems

Proven ability to work independently in industrial and client‑facing environments

Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills

Self‑motivated with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset

Willingness to travel on short notice

Valid driver’s license required
