Salary range for this position: CAD $38.93/Hr. - CAD $48.59/Hr.

Job Responsibilities
Perform routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments within a designated laboratory area. Greet patients and collect and/or receive specimens. Validate and report test results. Maintain instruments and prepare solutions and control agents in accordance with established procedures and safety standards. Participate in departmental training programs in chemistry, hematology and other related areas to learn new or existing tests and procedures for use in the laboratory.

Education & Experience

Successful completion of a recognized competency assessment exam and registration in the relevant field(s) of practice in accordance with the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR) pathways (Core Lab), or certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques including quality control.

Basic knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care using point of care instrumentation.

Demonstrated ability to function as a team member.

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.

Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.





Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.

General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.

Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.

Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Skill in the operation of related equipment and techniques appropriate to the designated areas of the laboratory.
