BEL Contracting is looking for Skilled Civil Construction Laborers to join our team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform general labor duties on civil construction sites including digging, grading, raking, and shoveling
Assist with installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
Support pipe crews with alignment, bedding, and backfilling
Load, unload, and move construction materials and equipment
Operate small tools and equipment (plate tampers, cut‑off saws, jackhammers, etc.)
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work setting
Follow directions from supervisors, foremen, and lead hands
Assist with traffic control and site safety setup as required
Participate in daily toolbox talks and adhere to all company safety policies
Qualifications & Requirements
Previous experience in civil construction or general labor (preferred but not required)
Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting, repetitive tasks, and working in all weather conditions
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
Ability to work well in a team environment
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (asset)
Basic understanding of construction safety practices
Certifications (Assets)
CSTS (Construction Safety Training System)
WHMIS 2015
Confined Space Entry
Ground Disturbance Level II
First Aid (Level 1 or higher)
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Physically demanding environment (lifting, bending, standing for long periods)
Early start times, overtime, and weekend work may be required
Travel to different project sites will be necessary, so having your own vehicle is an asset

Compensation
This is a Unionized position with BEL Luina 1611 rate for Skilled Laborers. The position will earn Union wages and have access to extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union‑sponsored pension plan, and additional training through the Training Plan. Expected hourly rate: Unionized wage range for this position is $35.27 per hour (based on candidate’s experience), plus 12% vacation/statutory holiday pay, which totals $39.50 per hour.
