Salary range: CAD $41.42-$55.91 per hour. Hours, start/stop times, days off, work location are subject to change per operations requirements and applicable statutes.

Testing may be required. A criminal record check may be required.

Perioperative Nursing Program
Providence Health Care, in partnership with BCIT, offers fully funded perioperative education for nurses interested in a career in the Operating Room (OR). Program includes:

100% coverage of tuition and textbooks

Paid wages at 100% of posted full time equivalent for eligible program components

Upon completion, participants receive a Perioperative Nursing Certificate (AORN) and begin working as an OR Registered Nurse at Mount St. Joseph Hospital. Participants must commit to 18 months of full‑time service with PHC after completion.

BCIT Perioperative Program schedule (approximate):

Phase 1 Theory

Pre‑requisite courses by distance (unpaid). Completed online.

January 4 – March 26, 2027

PHC Orientation

New Employee and General Nursing Orientation (paid). Held onsite at Mount St. Joseph Hospital.

TBD.

Phase 2 Compressed Time Frame (CTF)

Classroom/Clinical (paid). Delivered at BCIT and Mount St. Joseph Hospital.

April 5 – July 23, 2027

Responsibilities

Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.

Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families.

Make referrals to resources as needed.

Support fellow healthcare professionals.

Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values.

Your Day to Day

Review patient/resident status using chart review, observation, interviews, questionnaires, collateral information,



and consultations with the healthcare team.

Assess problems and needs, plan, implement, evaluate, and prioritize nursing care and interventions based on clinical judgment and evidence‑based practice.

Provide nursing care according to established policies, procedures, technology, and PHC standards.

Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, reassess as needed, and modify care plans.

Record observations and communicate changes in condition to designated staff.

Education & Experience

Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM.

Minimum of 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience (preferred).

Not eligible if recipient of Post‑Basic Education Funding from PHC within the past 2 years.

Applicant must successfully complete the Post‑Basic Education prior to working in the department.

Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in CPR procedures.

Teamwork skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Interpersonal skills for effective interaction with others.

Conflict resolution skills.

Testing
Short‑listed candidates will have to successfully complete an in‑person dexterity test evaluating fine‑motor coordination.
