Convergint is currently recruiting for a Security Systems Technician to join our team in Vancouver Island, BC. As a Security Technician, you will provide customer and technical support for installed security systems; install, program, start-up/check-out, certification, and related training on assigned projects ranging from small to large. You will also service and support existing customers through service calls, Customer Support Programs, and small projects.

Responsibilities Install, program, test, repair, and service a substantial variety of security systems and equipment.
Read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and wiring diagrams to determine installation requirements.
Respond to client sites for scheduled maintenance, emergency, and after‑hours calls; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and debug a variety of systems.
Install projects as necessary and write non‑routine programs for systems.
Operate systems to demonstrate equipment,
commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
Consult with supervisors and engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
Advise supervisors regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, and suggestions for product improvements.
Execute the technical aspects of multiple projects, including programming, graphics development, start‑up, certification testing, customer training, and close‑out documentation.
Identify potential project risks, communicate them, and help develop strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
Coordinate with the Project Manager and/or supervisor and provide recommendations on quality of work, scope changes, and continuous improvement of customer satisfaction.
Complete accurate and detailed service reports for invoicing and job cost tracking.
Act as a mentor or trainer for less experienced staff, providing guidance on testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment.
Ensure all work complies with provincial and local regulations, best practices, and company health and safety policies.
Act as the 'customer's best service provider' at all times,
ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
What You’ll Need Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong technical skills and experience with electronic security systems, including programming and troubleshooting.
Self‑starter who works well without direct supervision.
Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, ability to read blueprints and drawings, and proficiency with hand and power tools.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites; minimal overnight travel.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Highly proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Requirements Diploma in Electronics (strongly preferred).
Relevant trade experience (preferred).
Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience with electronic security systems and programming.
Industry‑specific certifications (Lenel, Genetec, CCure, AMAG, Kantech, Avigilon) are an asset.
