NVIT anticipates a need for multiple Term Instructors within the Health Care Assistant program and invites applications from qualified candidates. This will be a sessional term opportunity offered in Terrace BC. Applicants should indicate which courses they are qualified for and interested in teaching.

HTCA 169 – Clinical I (September 8-17, 2026)

HTCA 179 – Clinical II (September 21 – October 23, 2026)

HTCA 159 – Community Practicum (October 26 – November 6, 2026)

Qualifications & Requirements

Possess an RN, LPN, BScN,



or MSN degree with relevant teaching and research experience.

Current BCCNM registration.

3-5 years’ recent experience in nursing, with 2 recent years in continuing care settings (work experience in community-based settings are a definite asset).

Experience teaching Indigenous adult learners.

BC Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or equivalent, or willingness to complete the PID or NAID program (some Prior Learning Assessment Recognition may be available) is an asset.

Courses in geriatric nursing and/or gerontology would be an asset for all applicants.

Experience in classroom teaching and learning practices with Indigenous adult learners at a college or university level.

Strong team player with excellent human relation skills – faculty members are expected to contribute positively to the life of the school and community.

Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing.
