Job Overview
The Bodily Injury Analyst reports to the Team Leader, Claims Services and is responsible for handling bodily injury tort claims nationally. The role includes full investigation of liability and quantum, negotiation and resolution of claims, and travel to mediations, pre‑trials, and trials as required.
Responsibilities
Investigates claims regarding liability, injuries and other accident related damages promptly and thoroughly.
Establishes and maintains adequate case reserves following the BI reserving protocol and practices.
Complies with all established protocols for identification, notification, and reporting to Major Claims.
Complies with all established protocols respecting claims settlement authority.
Collects and documents claims related information accurately and concisely.
Manages proactive and sound file handling per established guidelines.
Manages both potential indemnity and expense to ensure sound cost management principles.
Exercises sound judgment in evaluation and resolution of complex meritorious claims.
Contacts unrepresented claimants and their legal counsel promptly to build trust and resolve low to moderate complexity claims fairly and proactively.
Manages claimants’ expectations throughout the claims process with regular follow‑up and delivery of commitments.
Communicates with clients, third‑party claimants, witnesses, health care professionals, law enforcement personnel and forensic experts to establish cooperation.
Builds business relationships with Plaintiff Counsel to resolve claims files promptly through professional communication.
Collaborates proactively with Defence Counsel around established claims handling best practices.
Completes all required reports and notepad entries in a timely manner.
Travels as required for mediations, JDRs, and other meetings; may include occasional or frequent overnight travel.
Requirements
Minimum of 2–3 years of insurance adjusting experience; preference for AB or BI experience.
Sound knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
Strong understanding of the insurance industry and related legal environment.
Ability to prioritize and complete all claims handling activities around client and third‑party availability.
