Join us and build what matters for BC. Jacob Bros is now hiring a Buildings Estimator to provide cost estimates for institutional, commercial, industrial and residential projects.

Please note this position is 100% office based.

Responsibilities

Prepare estimates for projects by analyzing specifications, proposals, and other relevant documentation, ensuring accuracy throughout the full‑cycle bid process.

Assist in developing bid strategies for competitive tender projects, providing technical input on project and contract risks.

Accurately determine scopes of work and conceptual estimates by drawing on experience, reviewing proposal specifications, and attending pre‑bid meetings.

Calculate complete takeoff of scopes of work, including material quantity requirements from drawings.

Assist in reviewing final estimates to ensure alignment with project schedules and cost goals.

Assist with design review options and recommend the best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.

Work with a team to develop value engineering options for clients.

Assist the proposal department with key technical project information so that proposals and submissions can be completed on time.

Maintain and develop solid relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.

5+ years estimating experience in the industrial, commercial and institutional construction industry.





Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software, familiarity with CAD, Bluebeam and MS Project Suite.

Advanced knowledge of local construction materials and techniques.

Demonstrated history of successful bid results in a deadline‑driven, fast‑paced environment.

Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada.
