Compensation and Benefits
The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $84,893 – $103,758 per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to participate in an array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, a health spending account, a defined contribution pension plan, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability coverage, etc.
Working Arrangement

Overall Summary
The Senior Reinsurance Accountant – Team Leader serves as the on‑site operational manager for reinsurance accounting activities and oversees the daily operations of the Toronto Reinsurance Accounting team (currently 4 FTEs, with planned future expansion). The role ensures timely, accurate processing, strong service delivery, and effective people leadership, while also providing functional oversight and support to other Operations teams on‑site.
Team Leadership & Operational Management
Lead, coach, and develop a growing team of Reinsurance Accountants in Toronto.
Provide operational supervision and coordination with other local Operations teams.
Identify employees with potential for further development. Engage them in training and skill enhancements initiatives.
Support employees with identified knowledge gaps and foster the remediation with respective actions and clear goal settings.
Process assigned treaty broker/cedent accounts.
Ensure proper handling of technical bookings (including premium, sliding scale, reinstatement, LOCs, etc.).
Closing & Control Framework
Ensure accurate quarterly/monthly closing tasks.
Perform and review SOX and operational controls.Maintain a strong internal control workplace.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Communicate proactively with brokers, cedents, and internal teams.
Liaise with US and global Reinsurance Accounting leadership on planning, performance, and escalations.
Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Finance/Closing, and other departments on issue resolution and process alignment.
Support development of processes, controls, and KPIs; lead improvement initiatives.
Identify efficiency opportunities and lead or contribute to projects to improve service delivery.
Contribute to transition and change initiatives.
Technical Skills
Senior expertise of Non‑Life reinsurance technical accounting.
Competence in processing and reviewing reinsurance accounts and related documents.
Advanced Excel; knowledge of Word/PowerPoint.
Experience with eMessaging; SICS is a plus.
Knowledge of control framework (SOX / operational controls).
Soft Skills

Work Experience
5–8+ years in reinsurance accounting (Non‑Life).
Demonstrated people management experience, ideally multinational.
Experience collaborating with Claims, Payments/Collections, Underwriting, and brokers/cedents.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent.
