This position performs routine janitorial and maintenance duties at Regional Parks Headquarters. It is responsible for maintaining the buildings in a clean and safe condition on a daily basis. The role requires independent judgment and the ability to work independently while on shift.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct routine cleaning of the Parks Headquarters buildings, including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping of common areas and offices.
Perform routine janitorial services such as cleaning rest rooms.
Dust and damp mop offices and kitchens.
Clean lunchroom appliances.
Clean windows and wash walls as necessary.
Remove garbage and compost daily.
Clean carpets as required.
Strip and wax floors as required.
Ensure in office vehicles are secured and secure the buildings each evening.
Manage in office recycling and contact the contractor to empty recycling bins.
Change light bulbs as necessary.
Report any deficiencies to supervisor.
Complete and submit all forms and reports.
Order cleaning supplies and manage inventory control.
Ensure WHMIS policies are followed and information sheets for cleaning products are up to date.
Purchase, use, and dispose of all cleaning products in an environmentally friendly manner.
Follow all policies, procedures,
and standards of the CRD.
Perform other related duties as required.
Key Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Experience with customer service and basic public relations.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team workplace with parks staff, law enforcement personnel, and other agencies.
Physically fit and able to perform lifting.
Qualifications
High School Graduation.
Certifications
Acceptable criminal record check; must report any criminal charges related to employment to supervisor.
Standard First Aid.
WHMIS Certification.
Valid BC Driver's Licence.
