We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Lead Access Control Technician to lead and execute large-scale multi-residential high-rise and mixed-use commercial projects. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise in access control, CCTV, and network infrastructure, along with the ability to manage crews, materials, and multiple scopes from rough‑in through final commissioning.
Role And Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Lead installation, programming, and commissioning of access control systems in high-rise and commercial environments
Manage field crews and coordinate daily site activities across multiple scopes
Execute full project lifecycle: rough‑in, trim, programming, testing, and turnover
Install, terminate, and certify structured cabling (copper and fiber)
Perform fiber splicing (fusion and mechanical) and testing using Fluke equipment
Install and troubleshoot network infrastructure including racks, patch panels, switches, and field devices
Integrate automatic door operators with access control systems
Work with passive emergency communication E-Comm and DAS infrastructure
Troubleshoot access control, network, door hardware, and low‑voltage systems
Maintain accurate documentation, labeling, and test records
Manage site manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain productivity
Coordinate with Project Managers, site superintendents, and other trades
Identify and resolve field issues proactively to maintain project schedules
Skills And Qualifications
Security TQ (Trade Qualification) – Required
10+ years experience in access control and low‑voltage systems
Proven experience delivering large multi-residential high‑rise projects
Strong hands‑on experience with IP/analog/wireless access control and CCTV systems
Extensive experience with structured cabling systems (copper and fiber)
Proven experience with:
Fiber splicing (fusion and mechanical)
Cable testing and certification (Fluke)
Strong understanding of low‑voltage systems including circuits, relays, power supplies, and system communication
Experience integrating automatic door operators with access control systems
Ability to read and interpret drawings, risers, and specifications
Strong site management experience:
Manpower planning
Equipment coordination
Material and supply control
Maintaining field productivity
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability across systems and networks
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Preferred/Assets
FSR (Field Safety Representative) certification
Experience with passive E-Com and DAS systems in high‑rise environments
Experience in mixed‑use and multi‑phase developments
Fiber splicing certification
Network Certification
Safety certifications (lift, fall protection, etc.)
Key Network Troubleshooting Skills
Strong understanding of IP addressing and subnetting
Ability to identify and resolve network connectivity issues (device offline, IP conflicts, link failures)
Experience troubleshooting PoE‑related issues for field devices
Ability to verify and test data paths from field device to head‑end
Understanding of switch configurations and common misconfigurations
Basic knowledge of VLANs and how segmentation impacts system communication
Ability to isolate faults between cabling, hardware, and network configuration
Experience using testing tools (Fluke, link testers, laptop diagnostics) to validate network performance
Strong logical troubleshooting approach across layered systems (power → cabling → network → device)
