Senior Structural Engineer

Sedgman Canada Ltd is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, B.C. The role involves leading and providing technical support on structural engineering projects, including conducting structural design, investigation, managing project budgets and schedules, and preparing technical reports. The successful candidate will mentor and coach a young and enthusiastic team.

Responsibilities

- Lead project development of structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes and industry standards.
- Lead concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs.
- Perform detailed concrete and steel design, producing models and documentation in line with QA compliance.
- Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical.
- Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- P.Eng. registration with EGBC or eligibility to obtain.
- 15+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 in project lead or senior role.




- Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures.
- Demonstrated experience in design, consultancy, and operational environments.
- Previous mining or metals industry experience highly desired.
- Ability to self‑manage time, priorities, and activities safely and effectively.
- Well‑developed communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience with Canadian building codes across provinces desirable.
- Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Salary Range

$160K - $180K. Salary will consider education, experience, relevant skills, geographic location, and market conditions at the time of hire.
