Diesel/Service Technician Responsibilities Performs vehicle inspections, troubleshooting and testing to determine required or recommended repairs
Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs, including engine, mechanical and electrical systems; replace parts as required




Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
Verify serviceability and ensure quality repairs by test driving and adjusting controls as needed
Keep customer vehicles clean during the repair process
Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options
Communicate with service advisor or dispatcher if additional work is needed
Aid service writer as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, and ensure customer satisfaction
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts
Maintain a clean, efficient work area and keep the shop organized
Document all work performed on the repair order in accordance with procedures
Understand automotive terminology and stay abreast of technology changes
Follow attendance, timekeeping and work rules; adhere to supervisor directions and confidentiality policies
Maintain professional appearance per policy and participate in required training and meetings
Diesel/Service Technician Requirements High school diploma or equivalent and two-year related experience or equivalent combination
310T Licence 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice
