Introduction
The Community Service Worker (CSW) for CLdS/CdS participates in and often leads a Service Coordination team, which can include a wide array of social service agencies, not restricted to those associated with Health, Education, Early Childhood Learning, child welfare, private non-profit agencies, Justice, and Employment and Income Assistance (EIA). The CSW acts as a liaison between families, advocates, government, community-based agencies, and the individuals served. Using a family-centered/person-centered approach, the CSW delivers discipline-based services and intervention strategies to individuals and families. Responsibilities include coordinating and delivering support services, protection services, crisis management,



and the Substitute Decision Making process as per the Adults Living with an Intellectual Disability Act.
The work is rapid-paced and challenging, requiring assessment, planning, implementation, and monitoring of services for children, families, or vulnerable individuals. The CSW collaborates with professionals, advocates for clients, manages transitions to childcare, schools, residential placements, coordinates day programming, counsels clients, and represents CLdS/CdS to stakeholders, the community, and families. The role often involves addressing issues related to domestic violence, trauma, disability, abuse, mental health, emotional challenges, loss, addiction, homelessness, and family breakdown. Developing supports and networks to enable independence and full potential is highly rewarding. The CSW positively impacts families, children, and clients, enhancing their future experiences.

Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Valid Full Class 5 Manitoba driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and ability to travel within Manitoba
Provide and maintain satisfactory Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry Checks
Work on a rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required
Qualifications:




Post-secondary education in social services (Bachelor of Social Work preferred)
Case management experience in an integrated services environment, including counselling, assessments, service planning, coordination, resource development, and follow-up
Experience working with children with disabilities or vulnerable adults and their families
Experience conducting risk assessments and crisis intervention
Strong interpersonal skills for sensitive, respectful, and non-judgmental interactions
Excellent time-management and organizational skills for managing high-volume caseloads
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software
Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in French
Duties:
The CSW will lead and participate in service coordination teams, liaising with various agencies and stakeholders. Responsibilities include delivering family-centered services, coordinating support and protection services, crisis management, and facilitating transitions for clients. The work involves addressing complex issues such as trauma, disability, abuse, and homelessness, with the goal of fostering independence and full potential.
