REACH Medical Clinic – Family Physician (Locum)

Hours: 0.7 FTE (3 days a week direct patient care, 1 evening session 5‑8 pm, 3.5 hrs/week administrative duties, 1 hr/week team/quality meetings)

Description
REACH Medical Clinic is hiring 2 family physicians at 0.7 FTE. A provider will see an average of 15‑20 patients a day, including medically and psychosocially complex care such as addictions. Addictions care patients make up ~5‑10 % of the patient panel but account for a higher proportion of visits. The clinic provides full‑spectrum family medicine from cradle to grave. There may be house calls for homebound patients and early prenatal care up to 20 weeks, but no obstetrics or 3rd‑trimester care. Inpatient hospital work is not required. The incoming FP will negotiate a weekly schedule with the CHC; flexibility may be available but is constrained by room availability. One day per week permanent staff/MRP’s will perform Telehealth, but all current locums are required on site.

Remuneration is sessional pay with a patient panel focus on addictions and complexity.

Qualifications

Physician registered (Full/Provisional) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.





Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Commitment and ability to implement REACH’s strategic goals, mission, vision, and values.

Background in working with youth, mental health, addictions, fragile families, refugees, and frail elderly desired.

Current methadone exception and Suboxone certification or willingness to obtain same.

Awareness of the impact of colonization on Aboriginal peoples and understanding of cultural competency.

Ability to speak more than one language is an asset.

Experience or training in delivering medical education – asset.

Experience or training in primary care research and policy – asset.

Benefits & Compensation

Approximately $330,000 per FTE (alternative payment arrangement – service contract 1.0 FTE = 1680 hrs/year, i.e. $196/hr).

Vacation/Study Leave: Up to 7 weeks per year unpaid as part of the service contract agreement.

No overhead.

On‑Call Hours
Yes – telephone on‑call support after hours 1:8.

Schedule
0.7 FTE is 3 days a week direct patient care, including 1 evening session 5‑8 pm each week, 3.5 hrs/week administrative duties, 1 hr/week team or quality improvement meetings.

Open to fully licensed and provisional licensed candidates.
