Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic HCPC‑registered Dietitian to deliver high‑quality dietetic care to adults and older adults in inpatient mental health wards and community care settings. The role involves 1:1 assessments, group work, MDT participation and student supervision. The post is based at the Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre, Halifax, and is flexible and part‑time.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dietetic assessment and care planning for patients admitted to mental health wards and a rehabilitation unit.

Conduct community assessments for older people living in care homes.

Actively engage in MDT meetings, ward rounds and care programme approach sessions.

Supervise junior staff, dietetic students and oversee training programmes.

Lead and contribute to audits, clinical governance and nutrition training initiatives.

Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with Trust IT, Caldicott and CQC standards.

Support the development of nutrition resources and education for staff and service users.

Key Result Areas

Specialist assessment and care planning of nutritional needs of service users.

Provide evidence‑based dietetic interventions and monitor outcomes.

Participate in care programme approach, case conferences and MDT meetings.

Deliver nutrition education tailored to service users and carers.

Promote multi‑disciplinary team working and healthy lifestyle choices.

Develop and evaluate nutrition resources in line with diverse user needs.

Maintain accurate, defensible clinical records and comply with IT and GDPR policies.





Participate in clinical supervision at university and multi‑professional levels.

Person Specification
Essential

Evidence of CPD and a professional portfolio.

Post‑qualification clinical experience across different settings and age groups.

HCPC registration and membership of the British Dietetic Association.

Effective communication, assessment and care‑planning skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Positive decision‑making, negotiation and organisational skills.

Knowledge of clinical governance and ability to use relevant IT systems (e.g., RIO, PowerPoint, DietPlan).

Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle during working hours (reasonable adjustments considered).

Desirable

Masters‑level qualification or willingness to undertake one.

Clinical supervisory experience and management training.

Experience in audit, research, presentation and report writing.

Knowledge of catering liaison and broader health community engagement.

Innovative, self‑directed working style and understanding of client needs in the wider community.

Other Requirements

Discharge and Barring Service checks (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act).

Current UK qualified registration.
