Northland School Division is seeking Elementary Teachers at Bishop Routhier School. The start date of this position will be August 31st, 2026. The kindergarten to grade 7 school is located in the Peavine Métis Settlement, within Big Lakes County, approximately 56 kilometres north of High Prairie on Highway 750. Major Responsibilities include:
Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.
Planning and executing daily lessons based on short, medium, and long‑range planning.
Providing feedback to students and parents in a regular, timely manner.
Championing Cree language and culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
Supporting school‑parent‑community engagement.
Possessing strong interpersonal skills and committing to collaborative decision‑making.
Promoting differentiated instruction to meet diversity in learning needs.
Qualifications and Requirements include:
Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
Must hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
Successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.
Additionally, should the successful applicant receive a successful evaluation, there may be an opportunity to receive a continuous contract.
