POSITION BACKGROUND:
The Journeyman Mechanic works to guide and mentor apprentices. Thisposition is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshootingequipment issues and repair to ensure equipment is performing optimally.

CORE DUTIES:

Effectively manage, schedule and prioritize maintenance work orders and apprentices

Rebuild and make repairs to diesel/gasoline, pneumatic, and electric poweredequipment

Plan, inspect, service, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, dismantle, and replace unit assemblies or parts

Communicate with supervisors and other divisions on methods, procedures, standards, and hazards

Exercise judgment in the selection of materials and tools as well as methods so that the job is performed in accordance with accepted manufacturers specifications and safety standards

Troubleshoot, plan, and perform work requiring a strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, low voltage direct current, electronic and pneumatic principles, trade techniques, properties of various materials, and operating and application principles of equipment

Follows specifications on complex equipment diagrams, parts drawings and catalogues

Examineand reason,



through cause analysis, for failure or improper operation of engines, pumps, running gear, parts, and equipment

Repair and rebuild engines, hydraulic and electric systems of diesel/gasoline, electric, propane and pneumatic powered equipment

Repair and rebuild transmissions, traction motors, and differentials

Use precision testing equipment to determine source and cause of fault and to perform close tolerance adjustment

Test and operate repaired equipment as required

Make field repairs as required to bring equipment back on-line

Keep tools and equipment in clean and orderly condition

Complete required paperwork

Successfully complete safety training as required on an ongoing basis

Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment

Ensure all Ketek work procedures, policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed

Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment

Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required

JourneymanHeavy Equipment Service Technician certificate with minimum one-yearexperience

Fluentin the English language (reading, written,



spoken)

Ableto demonstrate good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity

Easilyread, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings, andperform normal math calculations

Familiarand comfortable with various saws, grinders and other hand tools

Familiarand comfortable with manufacturing and welding machinery

Ableto operate required equipment in a secure and responsible manner

Abilityto handle changing schedules and priorities, with high levelprioritization skills

Strongwork ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail

Ableto respond to field calls as required

ValidClass 5 and a Clean Drivers Abstract

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands

Regularlyrequired to stand/sit, talk/hear, stoop, climb, lift, balance, kneel anduse of hands/fingers to operate tools, machinery and materials

Moderateto heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required

Useof mechanical aids: overhead crane, forklift, pallet jack, and dolly maybe required

Regularexposure to loud noises and metal particulates - hearing and respiratoryprotection is provided when needed

Work Environment

Field(30%) and shop environment (70%)

Maybe required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours

Maybe required to work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and heat
