This opportunity is suited to a highly technical engineering professional who can provide leadership and delivery oversight across complex multidisciplinary projects. The role focuses on technical direction, coordination of engineering activities, and accountability for quality, schedule, and budget performance. This position will work across multiple project phases and support the successful delivery of engineering outcomes in demanding industrial environments.
Role Context
This position sits within a project delivery environment supporting work across the resources and energy sectors and complex process industries. Relevant project exposure may include oil and gas, SAGD and oilsands facilities, mining, metals and minerals, cogeneration, gas-to-power, and energy transition or industrial facilities. The role is involved through feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, with regular coordination across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead assigned mechanical engineering scope and ensure deliverables align with project requirements and applicable standards.
Provide technical leadership through all project phases, from early study work to construction and commissioning support.
Coordinate engineers, designers, and discipline specialists while defining work packages and supporting effective resource allocation.
Contribute technical input to equipment specifications, requisitions, bid reviews, and vendor technical evaluations.
Identify technical risks, manage execution challenges, and support practical engineering solutions in collaboration with the wider project team.
Support design reviews, constructability reviews, stakeholder discussions, and resolution of technical queries and interface issues.
Promote quality, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across all mechanical engineering activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
Professional Engineer designation or eligibility to obtain it in line with relevant requirements.
Solid technical expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including rotating equipment, static equipment, piping interfaces, materials, and equipment specifications.
Proven experience leading mechanical engineering scope on complex multidisciplinary projects.
Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as ASME, API, CSA, and ISO.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and deliver high-quality engineering work within schedule and budget constraints.
Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills within a project delivery setting.
