Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical and electronic systems on industrial production equipment.
Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, drawings, and code specifications.
Maintain and repair food processing and packaging equipment, including conveyors, motors, sensors, VFDs, servo drives, mixers, grinders, slicers, chillers, batching systems, and packaging machinery.
Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, ladder logic, electrical controls, and automated production equipment.
Support Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC-based automation systems.
Perform root cause analysis to improve equipment reliability and reduce production downtime.
Complete preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and maintenance documentation using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Maintain and update the site ESA logbook.
Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code, GMP, HACCP, ISO standards, and all health and safety procedures.
Follow lockout/tagout, arc flash, and plant safety protocols.
Collaborate with production, quality, sanitation, maintenance teams, and external contractors to support plant operations.
Participate in continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
Qualifications
Valid 442A Industrial Electrician or 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician Licence.
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
3–5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, electrical controls, motors, servo drives, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLC systems is considered a strong asset.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
Strong troubleshooting skills with automated production equipment.
Knowledge of food processing equipment, including conveyors, packaging systems, chillers, mixers, grinders, slicers, and batching systems is considered an asset.
Understanding of GMP, HACCP, ISO standards, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and workplace safety requirements.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
