We are seeking a Journeyman Powerline Technician responsible for installing and maintaining overhead, underground, transmission, and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints or process specifications
Perform line maintenance in a protected, efficient manner using de-energized, live line hot stick or live line rubber glove techniques on voltages up to and including 44 kV
Safe operation of heavy equipment including Radial Boom Diggers, Line Trucks and all-terrain equipment as required
Operate and maintain hand tools such as blocks, grips, jacks, hot line tools and cover up, etc.
Instruct and train junior personnel in duties, safe work practices, care and use of tools and equipment
Maintain personal and group safety at all times and exercise appropriate caution when working with tension for rigging, on or near energized equipment
Respond to unscheduled outages as a result of weather, component failures, vehicular accidents, etc.
Be a positive team member through open communication and active participation in crew tasks
Ensure the work environment is in compliance with Aecon Health & Safety and Environmental Manual
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
Availability to travel and work on projects across Ontario
Required Knowledge And Experience Journeyman Power Lineman Apprenticeship and Trade Certificate
Minimum 2 years utility experience constructing, installing and maintaining overhead, underground,



distribution systems
Thorough knowledge of Provincial Electrical Utilities Regulations and provincial-specific Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Codes
Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively work on teams with a desire to provide excellent customer service
Ability to interpret drawings, develop/interpret work instructions, and plan projects for self and others
Valid DZ Driver’s License at minimum
Ability to climb towers and poles, work at heights, and work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time
Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal, team participation and communication skills
Salary and Benefits The expected salary for this position is $53.96 to $55.52 per hour. Individual pay is determined based on factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
