Instructor – Heavy Equipment Rural Operator Program (Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining, CNIM)
Term: April 24, 2026 – March 31, 2027 (casual position); Salary commensurate with experience.
Overview
Yukon University seeks an Instructor/Coordinator to deliver Heavy Equipment Rural Operator Programming in Whitehorse and Yukon communities. CNIM offers state‑of‑the‑art facilities, mobile classrooms, and high‑tech simulators, providing students hands‑on experience on working mine sites, reclamation, and mineral exploration areas.
Responsibilities
Conduct classroom, simulator, and heavy equipment training using curriculum supplied by Yukon University.
Maintain the highest safety standards and enforce secure operating procedures.
Engage students and clients in the use of CNIM’s state‑of‑the‑art equipment and resources.
Qualifications
Unlimited Class 5 licence with clean driving abstract and safety record.
Minimum 8 years of heavy equipment operator experience, including recent surface‑mining experience.
Teaching experience or teaching qualification (asset). Additional certificates of qualification in mechanical trades are also an asset.
