Can-Ex Technologies is redefining how sewer and underground infrastructure inspections are performed. Through a tightly integrated stack of advanced hardware, embedded systems, edgecomputing, and SaaS, we enable municipalities, contractors, and engineers to collect higher-quality inspection datafaster, morereliably, and at scale.
We are now strengthening the electronics foundation of our product line. This role is a founding opportunity toarchitectand own the electronicsystems thatpowerour next generation of inspection devices.
The Role
As a Senior Electronics Designer, you will own the full electronics lifecycle of our productsfromarchitecture andcomponentselectiontoPCBdesign, validation, production release, and field performance monitoring.
You will design robust, production-gradeelectronics thatoperatein harsh real-world environments. Your work will directlyimpactdevice reliability, manufacturability, scalability, and long-termproduct viability.
You will collaborate closely with embedded software, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and product teams to ensure seamless integration from prototype to production at scale.
If you enjoy seeing a board go from concept to a shipped device used daily in the field, this role is for you. This is not a layout-only role. This is end-to-end hardware ownership.
This role will influence our long-term hardware architecture as we scale our device fleet globally.
WhatYou’llDo
- Architect electronic systems for embedded edge devices
- Own the full electronics development lifecycle: architecture, componentselection, schematic capture, PCB layout, validation, and production release
- Design multilayer PCBs for embedded systems, including power management, high-speed interfaces, communication buses, and sensor integration
- Select andvalidatekey components (MCUs, SoCs, PMICs, sensors, connectors, cables, protection circuits) with cost, performance, and long-term availability in mind
- Design robust power architectures (battery systems, charging circuits, regulation, protection)
- Ensure signal integrity and EMC/EMI robustness for real-world deployment
- Define and execute board bring-up, debugging, validation, and environmental testing protocols
- Drive DFM/DFT improvements and prepare production documentation (BOM, manufacturing files, test procedures)
- Work directly with PCB manufacturers and EMS partners to support production ramp-up and resolve manufacturing issues
- Support hardware iterations based on field feedback and failure analysis
Who You Are
- A systems thinker who understands electronics as part of acomplete device ecosystem
- Comfortable owning hardwarefrom blank page to deployed fleet
- Detail-oriented and rigorous in validation and testing
- Pragmatic in design choices—balancing performance, cost, availability, and manufacturability
- Robust collaborator across embedded, mechanical, andmanufacturingteams
- Energized by building foundational hardware in a scalingcompany
- Not afraid to make decisions with long-term consequences—and stand behind them
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field. Or equivalent experience
- 5+ yearsof experience in electronic hardware design and PCB development
- Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium,KiCad, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of power electronics, analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with high-speed interfaces (USB, Ethernet, CSI, SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
- Experience with embedded processors or SoCs (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, ARM-based platforms, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with PCB bring-up, lab debugging (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power analysis tools)
- Experience preparing boards formanufacturingand working with EMS partners
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI considerations and product validation best practices
- Experience leading at least one hardware product from concept to production
Why Join Us?
- Founding impact – You will define the electronics backbone of our product line
- Real-world hardware – Your boards will ship andoperatedaily in the field
- Technical depth – Work across electronics, embedded systems, mechanical integration, and edge AI
- Growth – Be part of a rapid-scalingcompany solvingreal infrastructure challenges
- Autonomy & trust – You own the hardware decisions, not just execute tasks
- Strong product culture – High standards, explicit ownership, meaningful impact
