The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for a Senior Manager, Business Communications !
Overview The Blue Jays are looking for a passionate, highly-skilled, and detail-oriented communications professional to oversee earned media, business issues management, and internal communications across the organization. The Senior Manager, Business Communications will drive major annual communications projects, work together with baseball communications colleagues, and collaborate cross-functionally across the business supporting multiple facets and areas of operation.
Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, the ideal candidate is a compelling writer and storyteller, knows how to distill complex information and convey to various audiences. We're looking for an expert on the Toronto/Canadian media landscape and someone up-to-date on current media trends, thinks holistically, excels collaborating and working cross-functionally, is exceptionally detail-oriented, is passionate about baseball and excited to work in a fast-paced, sports and live entertainment setting.
Key Responsibilities Create and deliver external communications campaigns to support business priorities and special projects; includes driving organization narratives through proactive storytelling and creative publicity tactics
Create and deliver internal communications program to engage and inspire employees; includes Town Halls, EVP thought-leadership program, and celebrating employee wins
Oversee publicity and influencer programs and provide mentorship to working group; create summary reports with metrics
Support the Vice President on identifying and mitigating issues; crisis management
Foster existing and build new relationships with media, influencers,



and stakeholders to broaden reach of awareness and shape agenda while ensuring accurate and balanced editorial coverage
Coach internal spokespeople on presentations and media interviews
Draft and edit media materials; provide copy editing support for various internal departments to ensure brand consistency
Lead logistics for media conferences and special events
Coordinate external and internal communications for Rogers Centre concerts and events, including on-site media relations
Collaborate cross-functionally across the business to ensure alignment and drive maximum results
Skills and Qualifications University or college degree in communications, public relations, or journalism
6-8 years of experience in public relations or communications, preferably within an agency setting or in-house for a sports brand
People leadership experience with a focus on coaching and developing team members
Excellent written and presentation skills, with high attention to detail
Proven track record in generating editorial coverage, storytelling, and issues management
Established relationships with local/national media and stakeholders within the sports industry; experience with multicultural media is an asset
Passion for baseball, sports, and live entertainment
Collaborative mindset and ability to excel working cross-functionally
Exceptional relationship-building skills
Humility and curiosity to constantly learn and grow

Applicants must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends and holidays as required.
Salary: The anticipated base compensation range for this role is $95,000 – $110,000. Actual base pay offered within this range may differ based on a range of factors, including individual experience, education, skills, and organizational needs.
