Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager – UKG Implementation to support an ongoing Canadian HRIS and payroll implementation with a targeted go-live date of January 1, 2027. This role will provide hands‑on project leadership across HRIS, payroll, benefits, workforce management, and talent workstreams, while acting as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and multiple third‑party vendors. The successful candidate will bring strong Canadian payroll expertise, prior UKG implementation experience, and the ability to manage complex vendor‑driven delivery in a multi‑stakeholder environment. This individual will oversee governance, drive execution, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure critical implementation milestones are delivered successfully.

Key Responsibilities

UKG HRIS & Payroll Implementation Management

- Serve as the project manager and subject matter expert for a Canadian UKG HRIS and payroll implementation, including HCM, Payroll, Workforce Management, and Talent modules.
- Oversee implementation milestones, environment readiness, testing preparation, issue resolution, and go‑live readiness activities.
- Coordinate with UKG, implementation partners, internal stakeholders, and third‑party vendors to support data migration, integration planning, testing, and future‑state operating model readiness.
- Partner with IT and consulting teams to track dependencies and coordinate integration development and testing between HR, payroll, ERP, advantages, and timekeeping systems.
- Support planning, development, and testing of payroll and benefits integrations, including enrolment, election, remittance, and related data flows.
- Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, end‑to‑end testing, payroll parallel testing,

and payroll validation activities.
- Support readiness planning, stakeholder communications, change impacts, and transition activities for employees, HR administrators, payroll users, and business stakeholders.

Vendor Management

- Serve as the primary client‑side point of contact for UKG, implementation partners, workforce management vendors, benefits providers, IT consultants, and other third‑party vendors.
- Manage vendor data requests, meeting coordination, deliverables, issue resolution, and client‑side participation requirements.
- Review vendor implementation plans, assumptions, staffing models, timelines, delivery risks, and cost implications.
- Hold vendors accountable to contracted scope, timelines, deliverables, quality standards, and issue resolution expectations.
- Support discovery sessions, design reviews, testing preparation, governance meetings, and cross‑functional working sessions.
- Challenge vendor recommendations where appropriate and ensure proposed solutions align with business requirements and operational needs.

Project Management & Governance

- Lead day‑to‑day HR PMO activities across HRIS/HCM, payroll, benefits, workforce management, talent, and related technology workstreams.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor integrated project plans, milestones, interdependencies, risks, issues, decision logs, and action items.
- Escalate critical risks, timeline concerns, unresolved decisions, and delivery blockers to executive sponsors and steering committees.
- Facilitate weekly governance meetings, project status reviews, executive readouts, and cross‑functional working sessions.
- Coordinate readiness activities for payroll, HR, benefits, administrators, and other impacted business users.
- Support cutover planning, go‑live preparation, hypercare planning, and transition to post‑go‑live support.

Required Skills

- Strong project management experience leading complex HRIS, payroll, or enterprise technology implementations with multiple vendors, stakeholders, and interdependencies.
- Prior UKG implementation experience, preferably with UKG Pro and/or UKG Workforce Management.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll operations, payroll compliance, benefits administration, and HR technology implementation practices.
- Experience with unionized payroll environments, complex pay rules, premium pay, accrual policies, workforce scheduling, and timekeeping integrations.
- Experience coordinating payroll parallel testing, system integration testing, UAT, end‑to‑end testing, cutover, go‑live readiness, and post‑go‑live support.
- Proven experience managing third‑party implementation partners and holding vendors accountable to scope, timeline, quality, and deliverables.
- Strong ability to communicate with executive sponsors, business stakeholders, HR, payroll, benefits, IT, vendors, and project teams.
- Strong facilitation, issue‑resolution, risk‑management, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently as a senior client‑side project lead in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven implementation environment.

Preferred Skills

- Experience supporting Canadian HRIS and payroll implementations within complex, multi‑location, unionized, or field‑based workforce environments.
- Experience with advantages integrations, payroll remittance processes, ERP integrations, timekeeping integrations, and workforce management tools.
- Experience supporting HR operating model changes, administrator readiness, training coordination, and transition planning.
- PMP, HRIS, payroll, or UKG‑related certifications would be considered an asset.
