Data / Database Architect

Responsibilities:

- Lead enterprise data and database assessments.
- Inventory and profile databases, schemas, storage platforms, and data flows.
- Define migration strategies for structured and unstructured data.
- Develop planning-level approaches for data synchronization, replication, and cutover.
- Assess data dependencies across applications and integrations.
- Evaluate data residency, retention, privacy, archival, and compliance requirements.
- Recommend modernization strategies for relational and NoSQL databases.
- Define target-state database architecture for cloud or hybrid environments.
- Assess migration complexity, risks, and sequencing.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and business teams.
- Develop migration playbooks and database transition strategies.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, availability, and governance throughout planning.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 10+ years of database architecture or enterprise data architecture experience.
- Experience with large-scale database migration and modernization initiatives.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2, or similar enterprise databases.




- Experience with cloud database services (Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Cosmos DB, etc.).
- Strong understanding of ETL, replication, CDC, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with data governance, metadata management, and master data concepts.
- Knowledge of data residency, compliance, and retention requirements.
- Familiarity with big data platforms and modern data architectures is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Microsoft Azure Database certifications
- AWS Database Specialty
- Google Qualified Data Engineer
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
- Experience with enterprise data migration and modernization programs
