Salary range: CAD $42.56/hr – $52.95/hr.
Responsibilities
Provide occupational therapy services to clients to achieve quality client‑focused care and enable clients to develop healthy patterns of occupations.
Identify and assess client’s occupational performance issues utilizing an evidence‑based approach.
Plan and implement goal‑directed services, and evaluate the effectiveness of the service.
Prepare and maintain records.
Contribute to the organization and delivery of occupational therapy services, and participate in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education.
About Hilltop House
Hilltop House is located in Squamish, BC, approximately one hour north of the Vancouver lower mainland on the scenic Sea to Sky highway. It is an 86‑bed long‑term care facility for seniors with complex needs, providing home‑like care for permanent residents, respite care, a community bathing program, and adult day care for seniors.
Education & Experience
Degree in Occupational Therapy plus two (2) years’ recent related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic knowledge of evidence‑based clinical practice related to the designated clinical area.
Broad knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures.
Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client and family‑centred model of care.
Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
Demonstrated ability to function as a team member.
Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers and clients both one‑on‑one and in groups.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.
Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Skilled in the use of equipment and in the techniques appropriate for occupational therapy treatment.
Basic computer literacy.
Requirements
All health care workers working in publicly‑funded health care facilities must report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records allows for offering any missing vaccines and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
