Technical Expert Senior – Avionics Systems
Bombardier – Mississauga, Ontario
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage engineering-related system and subsystem requirements to ensure safety, certification and aircraft design objectives are met.
- Work with system suppliers and other interfacing disciplines to ensure smooth integration of avionics systems on the aircraft.
- Lead the timely integration of systems such as AFCS, communications (VHF, HF, SATCOM, datalink), navigation (ADF, VOR, ILS, DME, TCAS, transponder, IRS, GPS, FMS, weather radar), displays (EFIS, EICAS, HUD, SVS) and information/maintenance & recording (IMS, OMS, data load, CVR, FDR, AHMS).
- Review, analyze and approve test results and support ARP4754 system and aircraft verifications.
- Manage, review and approve deliverables of avionics system suppliers.
- Liaise with certifying authorities to achieve system certification.
- Resolve engineering design issues and advise management teams on multiple subsystems.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical, Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in avionics.
- Solid knowledge of multiple avionics systems and recognized as a subject‑matter expert in at least one subdomain.
- Proficiency with specification, design, integration,
test and certification of avionics systems on aircraft.
- Familiarity with DO‑178, DO‑160 and ARP4754, and experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving, planning and prioritization abilities.
- Team‑oriented, collaborative approach.
- Willingness to travel and ability to work in a hybrid schedule (mandatory 2 days per week in the office).
Salary
CAD $145,000 – $178,000 per year, determined by skills, experience and other criteria.
