About this opportunity:
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Engineer to support the modernization and migration of enterprise-grade investment operations platforms and post-trade workflows. This role will focus on migrating and refactoring legacy on-premises applications, services, and data workloads to scalable cloud-based infrastructure while ensuring high standards of reliability, testing, operational support, and code quality.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in cloud transformation initiatives involving Azure infrastructure, Snowflake migration, data engineering, and application modernization. Working closely with architects, business analysts, developers, database administrators, and QA teams, this individual will help deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable cloud solutions that support business-critical investment operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Refactor and migrate legacy on-premises .NET services to Azure cloud infrastructure (IaaS).
- Support lift-and-shift migration of existing applications and services to Azure virtual machines while maintaining operational stability and reliability.
- Analyze and migrate data from Oracle and SQL Server environments to Snowflake.
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native data pipelines using Python and Airflow.
- Validate data migration activities to ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness of migrated datasets.
- Develop and maintain robust unit tests and quality controls to support modernization initiatives.
- Contribute to platform observability, monitoring, support, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including architects, business analysts, DBAs, QA teams, and fellow developers.
- Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
- Support CI/CD implementation, DevOps processes, and infrastructure automation initiatives.
- Create and maintain technical documentation to support knowledge sharing and operational excellence.
- Apply AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery efficiency while maintaining quality and maintainability standards.
Must Have
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in Python and C# development for data engineering and automation solutions.
- Experience working with relational databases, including Oracle and/or SQL Server.
- Hands‑on experience with Snowflake.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions.
- Hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow or similar orchestration platforms.
- Experience working in Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
- Proven experience migrating and refactoring on‑premises applications and data workloads to cloud infrastructure.
- Experience developing and maintaining comprehensive unit testing frameworks and code quality standards.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, DevOps, and DataOps practices.
- Experience using Git, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
Nice to Have
- Experience within investment management, capital markets, or financial services environments.
- Experience with SSIS.
- Working knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Exposure to data replication tools such as HVR.
- Knowledge of Order Management Systems such as Charles River Development (CRD).
- Knowledge of Accounting Books & Records platforms such as SimCorp Dimension (SCD).
- Experience supporting post-trade operations and investment data platforms.
