Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced DevOps Programmer to support a government digital services team focused on modernizing how citizens and businesses access public services online. This role sits within a digital-by-design environment and is responsible for the stability, security, and scalability of the core platforms that power public-facing digital services. You will work hands-on with containerized infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, API middleware, and multi-tier deployment environments.
What you will be doing
Monitor, maintain, configure, and optimize web-based middleware and API frameworks
Support and improve CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, automated testing, release management)
Manage multi-tier deployments across development streams
Set up and maintain Kubernetes clusters
Administer and support Docker-based environments
Apply patches, upgrades, and configuration changes
Implement and use monitoring tools (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, SolarWinds)
Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting web services and applications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve platform reliability and delivery processes
What you must have
10+ years of hands-on experience with:
Java
Relational databases (e.g. MySQL)
Git
Jenkins (or similar automation/CI tools)
Linux (Ubuntu preferred)
Bash / Shell scripting
APIs and API Gateways
Apache and Nginx
Load testing, performance testing, and automated testing
Container technologies
Robust experience with Docker and Kubernetes (cluster setup and ongoing administration)
Experience with software installation, configuration, system administration, and patch management
Full SDLC experience supporting web applications
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated with experience working in collaborative, team-oriented environments
