Initially, the Battery Pack Test Engineer will be required to complete all mandatory training and adhere to lab safety protocols. Following the successful completion of the required training, the role will transition to the execution of tests, with a key emphasis on obtaining the highest quality data in the most productive manner. The Battery Pack Test Engineer will collaborate with lab technicians throughout the testing process, encompassing test preparation, setup, execution, and post-test battery handling. This role will be responsible for generating comprehensive test reports upon test completion, as well as interim reports to fulfill ongoing requests or address any status issues.
Key Responsibilities: Attaining proficiency in the utilization of battery pack test system hardware and software
Mastery of executing test scripts and generating reports utilizing designated templates
Creating and updating standard operating procedures and work instructions that adhere to safety protocol as well as battery pack testing standards
Conducting day-to-day testing operations
Ensuring all tests strictly adhere to lab safety protocols
Keeping test requestors informed about ongoing test statuses
Implementing best practices throughout all tests and test reporting activities
Ensuring all test reports meet the highest quality standards
Delivering timely reports based on test results upon test completion
Proactively addressing and resolving test-related issues




Assisting in root cause analysis and issue resolution identified during testing
Collaborating with schedulers to optimize test equipment utilization
Maintaining up-to-date compliance with all training requisites
Escalating issues to management when necessary
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
Minimum of three years of experience in laboratory or engineering
Practical proficiency in common laboratory tools and instruments
Experience in configuring, maintaining, and overseeing tests according to established test procedures
Competence in collecting, analyzing, and visualizing test data
Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, attention to detail
Legal eligibility to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
Familiarity with AVL PUMA or similar battery test systems
Experience with CAN tools, such as Vector CANalyzer
Proficiency in calibration and analysis tools, like ETAS-INCA
Experience with EV battery pack diagnosis, root cause analysis, and teardown
Proficiency in data processing using MATLAB or Python
Experience with DVP&R; (Design Verification Plan & Report) test plan execution
Prior experience or knowledge of ISO 17025 or 9001 accreditation
