About the job Chief Veterinary Officer
Part-Time / Fractional Advisory Role
Squamish, British Columbia | Flexible / Hybrid
About FRAPS FRAPS Institute for Adventure Dogs is building a new category of nutrition and wellness products for dogs who do more.
Inspired by our own adventures with our rescue dog, Alma, we launched FRAPS to create clean, portable products designed for hiking, running, camping, travel and everyday life outside.
Our first products are high-protein dog fuel bars made with recognizable ingredients and designed to be carried, shared and served on the move. As we expand into new products and formats, we are looking for a veterinary leader to help ensure everything we build is thoughtful, credible and genuinely useful for dogs and their people.
The Opportunity We are looking for a Chief Veterinary Officer to join FRAPS in a flexible, part‑time capacity.
This is not a traditional full-time executive role. It is a mix of veterinary advisory, product development, formulation review, education and brand‑building.
The right person will help shape what FRAPS becomes, from reviewing new product concepts and formulations to identifying meaningful opportunities in canine performance, mobility, recovery, hydration and wellness.
You will work closely with the founder, product development partners, manufacturers and other advisors.
What You’ll Work On Review product formulations, ingredients, nutritional positioning and feeding guidance
Help evaluate the scientific and practical merit of new product concepts
Contribute ideas for future products across nutrition, hydration, recovery, mobility and wellness
Identify where veterinary research, testing or specialist input may be required
Help ensure product claims and educational materials are responsible and credible
Collaborate on consumer education, articles, videos and social content
Participate selectively in retailer, media, investor or partner conversations
Help FRAPS build trusted relationships within the veterinary and canine health communities
Provide ongoing strategic guidance as the company grows
Who We’re Looking For You are a licensed veterinarian who is curious about entrepreneurship, product development and the future of canine wellness.
You do not need to have worked at a consumer brand before. You should, however, be comfortable balancing scientific rigour with the realities of building an early‑state company.
Experience or interest in one or more of the following would be especially relevant:
Canine nutrition
Sports medicine or rehabilitation
Mobility and joint health
Preventive health and wellness
Integrative veterinary medicine
Active, working or adventure dogs
Veterinary education or content creation
Product formulation or consumer packaged goods
Most importantly, you care about creating responsible products that improve the lives of dogs.
Location We are based in Squamish, British Columbia, and would ideally find someone located in Squamish or elsewhere in the Sea to Sky corridor.
That said, we are open to flexible and partially remote arrangements for an exceptional fit.
Time Commitment and Compensation This is a flexible, fractional role rather than a full-time position.
The scope and time commitment can be shaped around the right person’s availability and interests. Compensation may include a combination of cash and equity, depending on experience, involvement and the structure of the relationship.
We are open to beginning with an advisory arrangement and expanding the role over time as the company grows.
Why Join FRAPS? This is an opportunity to help build a current kind of dog wellness company from an early stage.
You will have meaningful input into the products we create, the standards we establish and the way we communicate with dog owners.
You will also be joining a company built around adventure, animal welfare and the belief that dogs deserve products designed for the lives they actually live.
