Scope
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician’s primary responsibility is to perform maintenance activities, including installing, inspecting, replacing, and repairing components, as well as troubleshooting manufacturing systems and building services. The technician provides technical support to production teams to maximize production uptime and ensure the optimal functioning of production equipment and facilities. This role reduces production downtime, implements and maintains maintenance programs, performs preventive maintenance, and effectively troubleshoots and repairs equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting, preventative, predictive, and diagnostic maintenance on production and facility equipment both inside and outside.
Complete work orders and ensure repairs meet quality, safety and sanitation standards.
Communicate and collaborate with Maintenance and Production teams to ensure efficient plant operation.
Enter all information into the COGZ Maintenance Management Program.
Recommend and participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiencies.
Repair and maintain HVAC systems for the Winnipeg plant and assist with HVAC repair and maintenance in the Ste Agathe plant as needed.
Respond on-call / after‑hours to emergency equipment breakdowns.
Work safely following all safety rules, PPE, LOTO, Fall Arrest, etc.
Assist with general building repairs and maintenance indoor and outdoors (carpentry, snow clearing from employee entrances, emergency exits, trim and spray weeds as needed, etc.).
Perform other duties as assigned by the organization.
Qualifications
3 years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience (food production plant an asset).
Mechanical trades licensing as HVAC technician and gas ticket preferred.
Solid mechanical background and ability to perform various maintenance activities.
Additional building‑maintenance skills (carpentry, welding, plumbing, refrigeration mechanic, etc.) an asset.
Experience maintaining preventive and ongoing maintenance programs.
Proficiency in CMMS COGZ, MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel.
Flexibility to respond to issues outside regular working hours.
Strong equipment troubleshooting skills.
Accountability and transparency.
Adaptability, communication, analytical thinking, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
