We are looking for a highly motivated lawyer to join Oxford’s Canadian Legal Services team in Toronto.

As a member of the Oxford Legal Services team, the Associate Director, Legal Services will advise directly and/or manage legal support on construction and development projects across the Canadian portfolio, including managing external legal counsel and liaising with other professional advisors, and assisting the Development, Asset Management, Operational and Investment teams through the development and construction process. The role will also include support of Oxford’s compliance and risk activities, such as regulatory tracking and KYC.

Responsibilities

- Provide legal support for all design and construction work (including RFPs, professional services agreements, architectural agreements and CCDCs) and draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Offer legal advice to internal business units on legal, regulatory and compliance matters, ongoing operational matters, contract reviews, dispute resolution, litigation, and strategy documents related to development and construction.
- Mentor and train legal clerks, managers, construction and design teams.
- Develop and build relationships with external law firms, other professional advisors, and internal legal professionals and business colleagues.
- Understand Oxford’s organizational structure and approval processes.

Qualifications





- Qualified to practice law in Toronto, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an in‑house and/or law firm environment focusing on construction contracts.
- Experience drafting and negotiating CCDCs, building service agreements, qualified service agreements, and supporting RFPs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to lead projects and interact with diverse professionals.
- A curious, open‑minded demeanor with a willingness to learn and be part of a team.
- A strong work ethic, integrity, and a positive attitude, with a willingness to support the business and provide practical, timely legal advice and guidance.

Expected salary range: $138,000-188,000 per year.
