Industrial Electrician – Amentum

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our operations & maintenance team. This position is responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on facility electrical equipment in an industrial, large commercial, or logistics distribution environment, including clean rooms.

Responsibilities

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment up to 480‑volt 3‑phase and facility systems such as roof top units, doors, lighting, Variable Frequency Drives, motors control circuits.
- Respond to work orders and provide service and feedback to customers while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems, following schedules in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Conduct predictive maintenance activities such as infrared thermographic inspections of electrical distribution systems to identify hot spots, load imbalances, loose connections, and equipment degradation.
- Utilize the building automation system to track building conditions and the operation of facility equipment.
- Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to provide energy efficiency solutions.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics/prints and update assigned prints for modification.
- Use hand tools, laptops, and diagnostic hardware to complete assignments.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Enforce safety regulations, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility in day‑to‑day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- Licensed Master Electrician, Journeyman's License, or equivalent certification.
- Three years of experience as a maintenance electrician in an industrial environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.




- Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
- Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and complete fit tests for several types of respirators.
- Qualified applicants must pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.
- Ability to read and understand information on a computer screen and in documents.
- Fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
- Ability to obtain an appropriate driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
- May require additional licensing per state regulations.
- Must be able to work overtime, holidays, or weekends when required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Associate’s degree in industrial electrical or a related field.
- Six years of maintenance experience in Industrial HVAC, Industrial Mechanical Machine Repair, or Automotive Repair.
- Experience working safely with 24V, 120V, 277V, and 480V 3‑phase circuits.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial lighting systems.
- Experience installing conduit.
- Experience troubleshooting motor controls and electric motors.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC logic.
- Experience troubleshooting soft starters and VFDs.
- Experience using a CMMS; Maximo experience is a plus.
- Experience streamlining and improving inventory practices.
- Infrared Thermography Certification (Level I or Level II) or equivalent training.

Physical Requirements

- Regularly lift to 50 lbs.
- Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding.
- Perform repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, stretching, reaching, wrist movement.
- Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
- Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions.
- Recognize wire color‑coding accurately.




- Operate office equipment and a computer keyboard to access databases, send/receive messages, and prepare documents.
- Attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer, or vendor locations; some air travel may be required.
- Communicate effectively with others on telephone, in one‑on‑one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Move light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets, and other storage locations.
- Interact with clients in a professional and friendly manner even under stress.

Special Requirements

- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and other PPE as needed.
- Cope effectively with job stressors to maintain acceptable performance levels.
- Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment descriptors.

Compensation

CAD 35.39 – 37.39 per hour. The compensation range is a good‑faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.

This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
