Job Description
As a Global Mobility Tax Manager you will work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Your role is essential: you will uphold compliance with tax regulations while optimizing processes for employees on international assignments. Your main objective is to reduce tax‑related risks and costs, while ensuring organization and employee adherence to relevant tax laws.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance & Advisory: review and sign tax returns for globally mobile employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines; provide tax and payroll advisory services to multinational companies.
- Collaboration & Employee Support: oversee and coordinate remote client project teams, ensuring seamless collaboration across global delivery centers.
- Client & Business Development:
act as the main point of contact for clients, provide tax guidance for business travelers, identify new opportunities within the existing client base, and expand relationships to drive business growth.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: analyze compensation and payroll data, prepare documentation for tax optimization, maintain detailed tax records, update management and auditors on key findings.
- Research & Cross‑Functional Collaboration: conduct in‑depth research on international tax issues, stay updated on evolving tax laws, and work with subject‑matter experts to develop integrated solutions.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in Canadian & U.S. individual tax planning for employees.
- At least 1 year of people management experience, managing resource allocation, project workflows, budgets, and billing while ensuring team workload balance and client satisfaction.
- Preferred experience in cross‑border movement, foreign national and expatriate issues, foreign tax compliance, the tax equalization process, and managing international assignee populations.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and exhibit a proactive attitude.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Management, Economics, Finance, International Business, or related field.
- U.S. CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent designation.
Additional Information
- This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of a minimum of two days per week in office. Available locations include Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver.
- Compensation Range: $110,000 – 140,000 CAD.
