Position Summary

Penticton Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Relief Part time Switchboard Operator | Registration Clerk to join their team in Penticton, BC. This position works rotating nights from 23:00 to 07:00, with a position end date of Return of Incumbent and rotating days off.

Responsibilities

- Operate switchboard, public address system, and other paging device systems.
- Receive and direct patients and visitors.
- Respond to and monitor hospital alarms and emergency codes.
- Maintain physician on‑call/vacation lists and other hospital staff information.
- Perform patient registration duties.
- Admitting clerical duties with bed booking options.
- Cashier duties: receive payments,



record payments in cash journals and/or summary sheets, issue change and receipts.
- Receive, check, and deposit patient valuables for safekeeping.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 education.
- Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to type at 45 words per minute.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.

Application Requirements

- 5‑minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non‑supervised tests not accepted).
- Resume outlining two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Cover letter stating availability to start in a new position and on‑call, casual work (i.e., days of the week).
