Imperial Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with our client, Vulcan, to find a Financial Controller to lead finance for their growing Canadian operation.

This is a hands-on, standalone finance lead role. You'll own group reporting, local statutory accounts, audit and tax compliance, and month end close, supported by a Finance Assistant who handles day-to-day transactional work. Beyond the numbers, you'll be a genuine commercial partner to the business - leading forecasting and budgeting, supporting the sales team with analysis, and making financial information accessible and useful to non-finance colleagues. This isn't a back-office reporting role; it's about being embedded in the business.

Looking ahead, there's real scope to take on responsibility for the group's US business finances as you become established in the Vulcan role, reducing reliance on UK-based support and giving you genuine North American scope.

We're looking for a CPA-qualified (or equivalent)



accountant with a track record as a financial controller or finance lead within a standalone business or subsidiary. You'll need strong technical grounding in month end, controls, statutory accounts and audit, working knowledge of Canadian sales tax, and experience leading budgeting and forecasting into a Group structure. Fluency in French and English is essential, and you should be a confident, commercially-minded communicator comfortable managing a small team and external relationships with auditors and payroll providers.

This is a rare prospect to be the sole financial lead for a growing business, with real autonomy, a direct line into Group, and a clear path to wider responsibility.
