The City of Iqaluit is looking for a City Planner to join our team! Title: City Planner Department: Planning and Development Status: Full time permanent Rate of Pay: $51.71/per hour, 35 hrs/wk Settlement Allowance: $20,907.43 per annum Union Status: Unionized Reporting to the Director of Planning and Development, The City Planner is responsible for municipal planning activities.
In this role, the City Planner will implement the General Plan, Zoning By-law and other policies, and will contribute to and oversee both long-term strategic planning and urban development.
The ideal candidate will have the following: Minimum
Level of Education/Training: University Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field APPI/CIP Membership preferred Candidate members will be considered Minimum Level of Experience: 3 years of experience in Municipal or Development Planning in adjacent planning specializations will be considered Technical & Contextual Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Computer software including GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Microsoft Office Ability to work with territorial legislation, including Nunavuts land ownership system, Nunavut Land Claims Agreement,
and other relevant Northern issues Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to communicate and write in plain language Additional Requirements: Valid Class 5 drivers license Inuktitut Assets: Experience with living and working in Inuit Nunangat On-the-land experience/knowledge within Inuit Nunangat Proficient in spatial analysis Proficient in demography, statistics and current planning methods Note: Equivalencies that include a combination of education, experience, and assets, may be considered at the time of selecting candidates when the requisite skill attainment can be demonstrated.
