Job Description:

There is an exciting opportunity for a Venture Studio Analyst to join Onni Capital in Vancouver.

Onni Capital is a new investment and company building platform within the Onni Group. Operating at the intersection of a venture studio, private equity firm, and family office, we build new companies, invest in exceptional founders, and pursue opportunities where Onni’s capital, operating platform, real estate portfolio, and industry relationships create a meaningful advantage.

Onni Capital is being built from the ground up with the speed, ambition, and working style of a technology company. Our team works across venture creation, technology, private investments, fund investments, and special opportunities.

This is not a traditional corporate innovation department. This role exists to build companies.

As a Venture Studio Analyst, you will help take ideas from an initial problem through research, validation, financial modelling, product specification, prototyping, launch, and revenue. On a single project, you may interview users, size a market, build a financial model, create a working prototype, define a product roadmap, and present an investment or launch recommendation to senior leadership.

This is an opportunity for someone early in their career to gain unusual exposure to company building, capital allocation, product development, and executive decision making.

What You Will Do

Build and launch new businesses within Onni, from problem definition through to a live product with real users and revenue

Identify operational problems and commercial opportunities across Onni’s development, construction, property management, hospitality, finance, and investment businesses

Interview internal stakeholders, customers, and end users to understand workflows, pain points, and unmet needs

Translate user and business requirements into clear product specifications that designers and developers can act on

Rapidly prototype working products, tools, workflows, and automations using modern AI assisted development platforms

Hand validated and mature prototypes to the development team for production development and hardening

Build business cases from a blank page, including market sizing, customer segmentation, pricing, revenue models, cost structures, capital requirements, and payback periods

Quantify opportunities in terms of revenue, operating cost, hours saved, cycle time reduction, risk reduction, and customer value

Design and run structured pilots with defined users, success metrics, deadlines, budgets, and clear continuation or shutdown criteria

Develop go to market plans and support the acquisition and onboarding of initial customers

Track adoption, customer feedback, revenue, costs, and measured impact following launch

Present findings, recommendations, pilot results, and investment cases directly to senior leadership

Research markets, competitors, technologies, founders, and vendors to determine what should be built, purchased, partnered with, invested in, or ignored

Support the evaluation of external startup, private equity, fund, and special opportunity investments

Document processes, tools, decisions, and operating standards so successful approaches can be repeated across the team

Contribute to internal product reviews, investment discussions, demonstrations, and Onni Capital events

What You Bring

Interest in business, engineering, computer science, economics, finance, or a related field

Strong new graduates with relevant internships, startup experience, founder experience, or a track record of building meaningful projects will be considered

Strong commercial judgment and the ability to connect customer problems to viable business models

Strong financial modelling and Excel skills, including the ability to build an understandable business case from a blank sheet

Demonstrated ability to use modern AI tools and AI assisted development environments to research, analyze, prototype, automate, and produce high quality work

Working technical literacy, including comfort with APIs, data structures, SQL, basic scripting, automation tools, or a demonstrated ability to learn technical systems quickly

The ability to write clearly, simplify complicated subjects, and present recommendations to executives without jargon

Robust research and analytical skills, with the judgment to distinguish useful evidence from noise

A bias toward action and comfort making progress with incomplete information

Evidence of having built or shipped something, whether a product, company, prototype, analytical tool, automation, event, or internal process

Intellectual curiosity and an interest in technology, business models, investing, and company creation

The confidence to challenge assumptions while remaining open to evidence and feedback

Comfort working in a small, fast moving team where responsibilities change as projects develop

High personal standards for accuracy, quality, ownership, and follow through

Nice to Have

Experience working in or alongside an early stage startup

Experience with tools such as Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Linear, Slack, Databricks, Microsoft Azure, or similar platforms

Exposure to real estate, construction, hospitality, financial services, or another asset heavy industry

Familiarity with product management practices, including customer discovery, backlog management, user stories, product requirements, and pilot design

Experience developing software, internal tools, automations, or AI enabled workflows

Experience evaluating companies, industries, investment opportunities, or recent markets

Previous founder, side project, or entrepreneurial experience

What Makes This Role Different

You will have the opportunity to see the full lifecycle of company creation rather than working on one narrow piece of it.

From your first months,

you may be involved in:

Developing an idea for a new company

Interviewing prospective customers

Building an initial product

Testing the product inside an operating business

Creating its financial and commercial model

Working with developers and designers

Presenting directly to senior executives

Supporting an investment decision

Helping secure the first external customers

Measuring whether the business is actually working

The expectation is high ownership. The learning curve and potential impact are equally high.
